Rubber Gaskets

ANSI-NSF-61 certified rubber gaskets and seals

Every gasket/seal application requires the right material, but those utilized in water treatment or processing and/or handling, and those that come in contact with, have undeniably more stringent requirements than most.

NSF / ANSI / CAN 61 (NSF-61) is a set of American standards founded by National Sanitation Foundation a global independent public health and environmental organization measures the amount of lead and other heavy metals and organic materials that are released into the water when the product is used.

NSF-61 material confirmation related to sanitary and potable water industry incorporates:

1) Section 6: Joining and Sealing Materials:

This includes O-rings, gaskets and various custom molded parts in materials such as EPDM, Silicone, NBR and more.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), that relates to water treatment and establishes stringent requirements for the control of rubber seals and ANSI-NSF-61 certified rubber gaskets that comes in contact with either drinking water or products that support the production of drinking water.

All components in contact with drinking water must meet the correct standards to ensure dangerous toxins are not leached. One of these benchmarks is chloramine resistance.

The standard includes many critical safety tests, including a tensile strength and elongation test, an accelerated aging test, a compression set test, a low temperature test, a hardness test, an immersion test.

In addition a detergent/cleaner test, a bursting strength test, and several others at a continuous 60°C in different pH levels of water, to the more challenging chemical certification.

In all cases, KPM’s rubber part/compound is tested before and after exposure to a given fluid to determine whether anything has been leached out or extracted from the part.

KPM is one of few companies in India that works with NSF 61-rated materials.

Currently, we have certified our two of the mostly consumed compounds namely EPDM and NBR. Upon certified,

Similarly our products are safe and cause no wellbeing-related harm on usage with contact to any drinking water applications.

Most importantly this standard certification is mandatory for supplying ANSI-NSF-61 certified rubber gaskets, seals and custom rubber parts to the USA and Canada in drinking water applications.
