Rubber grommets are used to protect objects from sharp corners and edges. In addition the inherent functions such as flared or collared on each side allow it to be press-fit into an application without adhesive or any additional fasteners to hold them in position. When a wire or tube needs to pass through metal or another material it holds wires at their point of contact to avoid damage to connection points.
